Course overview

Workplace first aid training that meets the requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act. Heavy practical focus on CPR, bleeding control and casualty handling using modern manikins and trauma kits.

  1. 1Legal duties of a workplace first aider and scene safety
  2. 2Primary and secondary casualty assessment
  3. 3Adult, child and infant CPR with AED familiarisation
  4. 4Choking, shock, bleeding and wound management
  5. 5Burns, fractures, spinal care and casualty movement
  6. 6Medical emergencies: seizures, diabetes, poisoning and heat illness

Learning outcomes

  • Assess an emergency scene and manage bystanders safely
  • Perform effective CPR and use an AED
  • Treat bleeding, burns, fractures and shock
  • Complete first aid records and restock the first aid box

Entry requirements

  • Minimum 16 years of age
  • Certified copy of ID or passport
  • Able to kneel and perform compressions on a floor manikin

CertificationFirst aid certificate valid for three years, issued approximately two weeks after assessment.
